ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY
Astro-English: from Astronese, the phrase theistic naturalism makes use of the prefix theo- denoting God or divinity adjoined to the suffix -istic to denote “a belief held”, hence “a belief held in God” despite also adherence to the principles of naturalism which are traditionally at least agnostic towards supernaturalism and at most atheistic in orientation; one could suggest theistic naturalism is oxymoronic.
